The Death Record
John J. Myers,
One of the best-known men in this section of Pickaway county {Ohio}, died at a late hour Monday night at the family home two miles south of Williamsport {Ohio}, from infirmities of age. He has been confined to the house for some months.
Deceased was a son of Hon. John L. and Catharine (Vance) Myers, and was born on a farm near Bloomingburg, Ohio, on Apr. 1, 1839, his age being 71 years, 8 months, 18 days. On Nov. 20, 1866, he married Mary A. McCafferty, daughter of William and Elizabeth (Mace) McCafferty of Mt. Sterling, Ohio. She died on June 5, 1905. Their only child is John W. Myers, who resides on home farm. Deceased is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Lucy Gillespie, Mrs. Martha Jones, Mrs. Margaret Hess, all of whom are in frail health.
During the Civil war Mr. Myers served in the 60th O.V.I. and in the 8th O.V.C.
He was a charter member of Heber Lodge No. 501, F. & A. M., bringing his membership here from Fayette Lodge No. 107 of Washington C.H., when Heber Lodge was instituted, Jan. 2, 1875.
The funeral will be held to-day, Thursday, Dec. 22, at on o'clock, at the residence, Rev. W. S. Fisher, of the M. E. church, in charge. The body will be placed in the family mausoleum in Springlawn cemetery.
