KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That we Matthias Smyth & Jacob Myers are held and firmly bound unto JOHN TYLER Esq. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of One hundred and fifty Dollars current money of the United States of America, and for the payment of which well and truly to be made to the said Governor and his successors in Office for the use of the said Commonwealth, We and each of us bind ourselves, our and each of our heirs executors, and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals and dated the 21st day of March 1809.

The condition of the above Oligation is such, that whereas there is a Marriage shortly intended to be solemnized, between the above bound Matthias Smyth and Nancy Myers daughter of the above bound Jacob Myers of this facility{?}. If therefore there be no lawful cause or impediment to obstruct said marriage, then this Obligation to be void, else to remain in force and Virtue.
